In the end, I became a mai fan.
Reason#
I had never tried Dance Moe before because I always thought that there were no arcades with Dance Moe machines in Taiyuan, the city where I live. Even though later I checked the rhythm game map and found out that there were some.
During the summer vacation, I mostly stayed at home and chatted with friends online. Besides attending makeup classes, I didn't go out to play much, except for a trip to Shanghai in mid-July for BilibiliWorld 2023.
During a chat, I found out that many people in the group were playing Dance Moe DX, so I decided to give it a try. I packed my phone and changed my clothes, then headed straight to the arcade by subway.
Process#
Since it was my first time playing, I didn't search for any information or have any experience beforehand, so when a stranger who was playing alone on the machine signaled me to join, I was at a loss.
In the end, I relied on the helpful group members to solve it...
The arcade I went to had DX cabinets and orange cabinets. The DX cabinets were almost always occupied, while the orange cabinets were mostly ignored.
I played a few beginner charts for the first time, and then I started trying charts of medium difficulty and medium speed (7 - 9). The results were decent, at least the accuracy of the charts I played on August 19th was mostly above 90%.
I didn't wear gloves because it seemed difficult to control the Dance Moe screen with the gloves I had at home, and my hands are usually dry with rare instances of sweating; I also didn't bring headphones because my only pair of headphones with a 3.5mm jack was broken.
